As horses mature, enter intensive training, or adjust through seasonal workloads, their shoulder muscling and topline shape change significantly. An adjustable gullet system allows you to widen or narrow the arch of the saddle's tree by swapping the internal gullet plate (ranging from Narrow to Extra Wide). What Are the Signs That a Saddle's Gullet Width Needs Adjustment?

A saddle requiring a gullet adjustment will show clear signs of imbalance and pressure during or after a ride:
